A Spectralink phone system offers features specific to businesses. However, if you are an employee in a hospital, you may want a few extras, such as push-to-talk walkies that are integrated into the phone system or voicemail for employees who technically do not have offices within the hospital walls. Here is how these features typically work with a Spectralink phone system.

Onsite Data Centers Manage All Signals With WiFi

Since very few patients utilize land lines anymore, most of your onsite data centers operate on WiFi signals alone. One or two data centers are designated for the reception of land line calls, should they need a way into the hospital to specific departments. More than anything, these particular data centers manage the phone system and phone relay system for the hospital because cell phone signals tend to get blocked in a hospital and land lines are the only way for patients to call out to friends and family.

The rest of the data centers manage the internet connects, speed needs, and storage for all of the computer applications the hospital runs. They also manage the voicemail applications, VOiP applications, and the push-to-talk walkies your hospital utilizes. Be sure you have a room in the hospital that can manage the number of data center towers you will need for whatever phone and communication upgrades you want to install in your hospital.

Phone Lines and Voicemail for No Phones

There are phone lines into the hospital, but what happens when the doctor or specialist does not have an office or, technically, does not have his/her own phone? The line typically goes to a voicemail box, which the doctor or specialist without an office checks hourly and then responds to the messages. He or she dials a special number that connects to the voicemail box in virtual space, and that is managed by the data centers onsite.

Push-to-Talk Walkies

Push-to-talk walkies are a combination phone and walkie-talkie that lets all of the staff in the hospital communicate with each other, including custodial and nursing staff. The ones that your hospital uses pre-selects a channel on which everyone in the hospital tunes their walkie. Then, the person using a walkie only has to push a button to talk to the person they want to talk to. Because they can also operate as basic short-distance cellphones, the walkie-talkies operate using WiFi via the data centers.

About Me
updating outdated office phones

Telephones are one necessity in an office setting that can be overlooked. We purchase one phone and hold onto it until it no longer works. This leaves us in the dark about the new technology available to us that could actually help us progress through the day in a more efficient manner. My office was beyond outdated and I finally invested in updating all of the equipment so that I could get my daily tasks completed without struggling with one thing or another not working as it should. I created this blog with the intentions of helping others find the phones that will actually improve the quality of service and take some of the work out of communications.
